The BEST Fan Experience: Meeting Greg Garcia

Yet another reason to love the Padres.

At the end of the season you can purchase scratchers for ONE dollar each. If you are one of the lucky winners, you have the opportunity to win a shirt off a players back! Even if you don’t win, all of the money fundraised goes to charity. Pretty sweet if you ask me!

Of course Megan and I HAD to give it a try when we attended the last game of the 2019 season. Neither of us were carrying cash, but luckily we had a five dollar bill. We then bought 5 scratchers and we could not believe it… we had won not once, but TWICE.

In excitement we rushed over to Guest Services where we had to sign a paper with the rules and regulations. We were told to return and check in during the 8th inning.

Ness & I waiting ….

Quickly enough, 8th inning starts creeping up on us so we head back to check in. Our friend, Vanessa, had tagged along with us as well so we bought more scratchers to see if we’d have any more luck. Unfortunately we did not. Luckily, she was considered a minor so I was able to bring her out on the field with me. So at the end of the day, it was a triple win situation.

As we waited for the 8th inning to come to an end, a couple of the Pad Squad girls approached each winner one by one. We were told to cover our eyes and stick our hand into a bag filled with baseballs. Whatever number was on the ball was the player you were about to meet.

Lucky #5

Before we knew it, the game was over. All winners were brought in from right field and we were directed right onto the diamond.

Vanessa and I waited for #5 in excitement!

Greg Garcia comes onto the field and greets us.

GG was extremely kind to us and even took the time to have a conversation with us.

And honestly…

IT WAS THE BEST FAN EXPERIENCE!

Next season be sure to look out for the stands when visiting Petco Park! You won’t regret it. Even if you don’t win Shirts Off Their Backs, we all go home winners knowing the money fundraised is going towards a good cause!
